A solid wood chest, France, 19th century. The rectangular form with a hinged lid and iron lock plate, raised on thick plank supports. The construction is heavy and architectural, with a raw, almost monolithic character associated with Alpine furniture. Wear. Dry cracks. Marks and patina consistent with age and use.
