Charlotte Perriand Daybed for Méribel Les Allues, France, c. 1950s

Charlotte Perriand daybed, originally designed for the ski resort chalets of Méribel Les Allues in the French Alps during the 1950s. Executed in solid pine with a low architectural frame resting on block supports, reflecting Perriand’s characteristic balance between functionalism and natural materiality. The piece has been fitted with a newly produced mattress and bolster cushion upholstered in Belgian linen. Both the mattress and bolster feature removable covers with zipper. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor marks, scratches, patina, and age-related wear to the wooden frame. Small chip/loss to one corner of the frame. Newly upholstered cushions.
